A Message from our Chairman and CEO, Kozo Takahashi

Thank you for visiting the Sharp website. Whether you're looking for new product information to help you make an informed buying decision or are curious about the ways in which Sharp is working to be a good corporate citizen, you're sure to find something of value.

At Sharp, we have a long, rich heritage of imaginative products that improve people's lives. In 1915, our founder invented the "Ever-Sharp Pencil," a mechanical pencil from which Sharp takes its name. Sharp has long lived up to this name with such innovations as the world's first electronic calculator, the first microwave oven turntable, and the mass production of solar cells way back in 1963.

Today, Sharp's ever-evolving product line includes revolutionary multi-function business products, renewable energy-creating solar panels, a full range of beautiful, energy-efficient AQUOS® LCD TVs, and our latest: LED lighting, which builds on a long history of leadership in critical technologies. We also continue to explore other innovative products and technologies that promise major advances in our ability to create and save energy both at home and in the workplace.

Sharp is just as passionate about the environment as we are about our products. Sharp's LCD plant in Kameyama, Japan, is an impressive example of environmental conservation, featuring one of the world's largest roof-mounted solar electricity systems. In Sakai, Japan, Sharp operates a manufacturing complex that includes the most advanced factories for both LCD TVs and thin film solar cells.  A model of efficiency for all other manufacturers, the Sakai complex also includes the factories of key component suppliers and its own solar power generating system, all integrated into the same location.

Sharp aims to be an eco-conscious organization in its business operations. For example, Sharp’s nationwide electronics recycling program provides free, convenient consumer recycling of Sharp televisions and other consumer audio and video products. Sharp is also a leading member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWaySM Transport Partnership, a market-based partnership to reduce fuel use, greenhouse gas emissions, and air pollutants from the freight sector, and has received its annual "SmartWay Excellence Award” in each of the four years the award has been given.

It's Sharp's goal to achieve a truly ubiquitous, environmentally-conscious society through the use of our energy-efficient LCD TVs; to create consumer electronics, office equipment and appliances that are ever more energy-efficient; and to bring clean energy production to utility, commercial and residential customers through the use of our efficient solar panels. All this adds up to our vision of contributing to the world's environment through our energy-saving and energy-creating products.

We're very excited about the Sharp products you'll discover as you explore our website. We hope you'll find that they better your own lifestyle with Sharp quality, innovation and style.
